Game Details:

This is a classic early fixed-screen platformer. The objective of each stage is straightforward: the player must collect all the lettered jars on the screen. The game features four main settings: a sailing ship, a cave, the outer palace walls, and the castle interior. As you progress through the levels, enemies like crows, ostriches, and genies will move faster, and their attack patterns become more cunning.

Although the character's basic moves are jumping and kicking, the complexity of the terrain significantly increases the difficulty. For example, in the sailing ship stage, players need to use the mast and ropes to climb; in later stages, they must also master precise timing to jump across moving platforms. The game's hit detection is very strict; touching an enemy or falling from a great height will result in losing a life. Its simple yet deep design perfectly embodies the "high difficulty, high replayability" characteristic of arcade games from that era.

Game Guide:

  • Letter Collection Priority: While collecting all the jars is enough to clear the stage, collecting the letters in the specific order "A-R-A-B-I-A-N" will award a handsome point bonus. For players aiming for a high score, planning your route is the first priority at the start of a level.
  • Mastering the "Kick" Timing: The prince's kick is his only defensive move. Note that the kick has a short range. When facing a charging crow or a ground minion, it's recommended to attack when they are about half a character's width away. You cannot attack while on a ladder, so before climbing, always make sure there are no enemies diving from above.
  • Sailing Ship Stage Tips: The mast in the first stage is key. Don't stay on the ropes for too long, as they are a blind spot for crow attacks. Jumping to move between different ropes can effectively disrupt the enemy's tracking AI.
  • Anticipating Platform Jumps: The moving platforms in the game (like the magic carpet) have a fixed cycle. If you miss the optimal jumping point, it's better to wait for the next cycle than to force a jump. This is because the jump in *Arabian* has a bit of inertia, and losing your footing at the edge can easily trigger a fall.
  • Using the Screen Edge: In some stages, moving off one side of the screen makes your character reappear on the other (similar to *Pac-Man*). Mastering this screen wrap can instantly shake off hordes of pursuing enemies, making it a life-saving technique in difficult stages.
