Drill Dozer is a classic action-platformer released by Game Freak on the GBA in 2005.
Developed by the renowned Game Freak and published by Nintendo, Drill Dozer is a GBA action-adventure game released in Japan in September 2005 and North America in 2006. The story follows Jill, the daughter of the Red Dozer bandit leader, as she pilots her "Drill Dozer" on a quest to recover her mother's heirloom, the Red Diamond, which was stolen by the rival Skullkers. The game cartridge features a built-in rumble motor that perfectly recreates the tactile mechanical sensation of drilling through terrain and enemies. It stands as a top-tier action masterpiece from the late GBA era, blending innovative creativity with exceptional controls.
While piloting the Drill Dozer, press the R button for clockwise rotation and the L button for counter-clockwise rotation. Listen closely to the engine's roar and watch the gauge; shifting gears at the right moment (from 1st to 2nd, then to 3rd) will significantly increase RPM and destructive power, allowing you to deal devastating damage.
Different mechanisms require specific rotation directions. For example, use the L button to unscrew clockwise-threaded bolts. For high-altitude pull-ropes, coordinate L/R button shifts to achieve aerial leaps and hovering.
Avoid drilling blindly when facing bosses. Observe their armor and look for exposed screws or cores. Use reverse rotation to dismantle enemy plating, and once they are staggered and their weak point is exposed, quickly shift to 3rd gear to blast the core at full speed.
Hidden throughout each stage are upgrades that increase your maximum gear level and HP. Prioritizing the exploration of secret paths to collect gear chips is the key to clearing the game with ease.
