Game Details:

Released in 1994, this title showcased exceptional graphics powered by the Jaleco Mega System 32 hardware. The character sprites are huge with clear muscle definition, and every heavy punch that lands is met with significant screen shake feedback. The game doesn't feature a complex move list; instead, jabs, hooks, uppercuts, as well as side-steps and blocks, are executed through combinations of joystick movements and button presses. There are significant differences between characters in reach, movement speed, and power. For example, the burly Australian boxer Biff excels at overpowering opponents with brute force, while the Japanese fighter Horiuchi is known for his agility. This variety in attributes requires players to adjust their offensive and defensive rhythm based on their opponent's style in every match.

Strategy Guide:

  • Mastering the Parry & Counter: The key to survival isn't trading blows, but observation. When an opponent winds up for a heavy punch, create an opening with a well-timed side-step or block. A successful dodge will leave the opponent in a brief "stunned" state, allowing you to immediately follow up with a combination to inflict massive burst damage and significantly deplete their stamina bar.
  • Utilize Reach Advantage (Range Control): Each character has a different attack range (Reach). If you choose a taller fighter, try to maintain a safe distance and poke with jabs to chip away at the opponent's health. If you pick an in-fighter, you must use side-steps to quickly close the distance and attack the body with hooks, a tactic that effectively limits the opponent's movement speed.
  • Finishing Move Execution: When your opponent's health bar is empty and they begin to stagger, don't be too quick to land the final blow. Charging and releasing a powerful uppercut at this moment can trigger a spectacular "K.O." effect, and may even knock them right out of the ring.
  • Dealing with the Final Boss, Draef Varona: This Russian champion (a tribute to Ivan Drago from *Rocky*) is incredibly powerful. The key to beating him is to avoid getting cornered against the ropes. Use constant circle movement in open space to find openings. Remember not to get greedy; retreat to a defensive stance immediately after landing a combo. Patiently wearing down his stamina is the surest path to victory.
