Game Details:

"Mario Tennis" is the first title in the series to land on the Nintendo Switch platform. The core gameplay revolves around the "Energy Gauge" system. By performing precise or technical shots, players can accumulate energy. Consuming energy allows players to use "Dash" to chase after distant balls, or to launch "Zone Shots" that are powerful and damage the opponent's racket durability. When the energy gauge is full, players can unleash a "Special Shot" to decide the match. The game includes a rich array of modes, including a "Story Mode" to experience the storyline and learn techniques, "Free Play" to battle with friends, and "Online Tournament" to compete with other players globally. The rich cast of characters, diverse courts, and in-depth tactical system make it a sports game suitable for all ages, yet full of competitive fun.

Game Guide:

1. Accumulating Energy: Technical Shots Are Key

  • Technical Shots: Each successful technical shot (usually performed by pushing the right stick towards the ball's direction or pressing a specific button) and receiving the ball will earn a large amount of energy. This is a high-risk, high-reward action. Successfully chasing distant balls and accumulating energy is key to turning the tide.
  • Charged Shots: Starting to charge and hitting the ball before it bounces allows you to gain a small amount of energy. Using charged shots often when safe can steadily build up an advantage.

2. Energy Consumption and Tactical Application

  • Dash: Consumes a small amount of energy, allowing the character to instantly move to the ball's hitting point. Primarily used to save tricky angle shots or Zone Shots from opponents. This is an important defensive method.
  • Zone Shot: Consumes about one-third of the energy, aiming at a specific area of the court to hit a high-power shot. This is the main offensive method. Aiming at the opponent's backhand or corners can cause great threat.
  • Special Shot: Consumes the entire energy gauge, hitting an ultra-powerful ball that cannot be caught by Dash or normal defense. Special Shots must be countered with technical shots or perfect blocks (blocking Zone Shots), otherwise, they will directly break the opponent's racket.

3. Racket Durability Management

  • The most distinctive mechanic in the game is racket durability. Each time you use a normal block to receive an opponent's Zone Shot or Special Shot, the racket durability will be reduced.
  • Perfect Block: If you press the block button at the precise moment the opponent's Zone Shot/Special Shot arrives, you can achieve a "Perfect Block," which not only significantly reduces the ball speed but also eliminates racket damage.
  • Strategy: When your opponent has accumulated full energy, you need to treat racket durability as your "health bar." Use perfect blocks as much as possible to avoid racket damage (usually only 3 spare rackets per match). If the opponent's Zone Shot is aimed at your open space, sometimes choosing to sacrifice the racket and directly dashing to perform a perfect block is more strategic than receiving it with a normal block.
