Game Details:

As a masterpiece from the golden age of arcades, Pac-Man broke the stalemate of a market dominated by shooting games, successfully attracting players of all ages. The most fascinating aspect of the game is the ghosts' AI design: the red Blinky relentlessly pursues the player, the pink Pinky excels at ambushing, the blue Inky follows an unpredictable path, while the orange Clyde is relatively aimless. When the player eats a "Power Pellet" in a corner of the maze, the tables are instantly turned. The ghosts become vulnerable, and the player can devour them in return for a high score. This dynamic of chase-and-be-chased forms the core psychological thrill of the game.

Game Guide:

  • Understand the Ghosts' Movement Patterns: The ghosts don't move randomly. The red ghost (Blinky) targets your exact position; the best way to avoid him is by making sharp turns. The pink ghost (Pinky) tends to aim for a spot ahead of your direction of movement to cut you off, so when you're facing him, suddenly turning back can often help you evade his trap.
  • Use the "Side Tunnels": The exits on the left and right sides of the maze are connected. When ghosts pass through these tunnels, their movement speed is significantly reduced, while Pac-Man's speed remains unchanged. When you're surrounded by multiple ghosts, you can use this speed difference to quickly create distance—a key survival technique.
  • Strategic Use of Power Pellets: Don't eat all the Power Pellets right at the start. The best strategy is to save them as a lifesaver for when you're cornered by ghosts. Additionally, eating the first ghost earns you 200 points; subsequently eating more ghosts during the same power-up will double the score to 400, 800, and even 1600 points. To aim for a high score, it's recommended to lure the ghosts together before eating a Power Pellet.
  • Safe Cornering Technique: Pac-Man's cornering mechanic is very precise. If you hold down a direction just before reaching an intersection, Pac-Man will execute a tight turn, hugging the wall, which is faster than how the ghosts turn. Mastering this "pre-turn" can help you escape certain death in narrow corridors.
