Game Details:

"Storm 2000" retains the core "web" gameplay of the original "Tempest," but incorporates numerous modern improvements and Mint's unique style. The game is divided into 100 levels, each a unique 3D tube or polygonal "web," where players move between "segments" on the edge, shooting all enemies rushing towards the front of the screen. New elements include: "Particle Laser," a powerful weapon; "Hyper Jump," capable of instantly clearing all enemies on screen; and a collectible power-up that grants temporary invincibility and clears enemies. The game's greatest feature lies in its audiovisual experience: background music composed by British musician Ian O'Brien, blending acid house and synth-funk styles, while intense visual effects—the glow of explosions, rapid color shifts—greatly enhance the game's immersion and adrenaline-pumping experience.

Game Guide:

1. Prioritize Acquiring and Protecting "Hyper Jump":

  • Hyper Jump is the game's most powerful life-saving tool; it's provided at the start of each level and replenished when you pick up specific power-ups.
  • When to Use: Don't waste Hyper Jump when enemies are sparse. The best time to use it is when the screen is overrun by "Spikes" or dense "Flippers," or when a "Terminator" is about to appear at the very front of the screen and cannot be cleared in time. Reserve it for clearing uncontrollable threats on screen.

2. Master the Generation of "Particle Laser":

  • When you continuously defeat a group of enemies and do not move between adjacent "segments," you may trigger the generation of the Particle Laser. This is the highest firepower upgrade in the game, allowing you to fire multiple beams simultaneously, greatly enhancing your clearing ability.
  • Strategy: To trigger it, try to focus on clearing your current "segment" and the two adjacent segments. Once you acquire the Particle Laser, try to remain in your current segment to shoot, avoiding unnecessary movement to maintain its duration.

3. Anticipate the Movement of "Spikes" and "Terminators":

  • Spikes will move towards you and generate spike barricades in your segment, impeding your movement. You must destroy them before they reach your segment, or quickly move to an adjacent segment to evade.
  • Terminators are slow but deadly enemies; they gradually approach from a distance. Once they reach the front of the screen, they will fire powerful projectiles. Prioritize them as high-value targets, using Particle Laser or Hyper Jump to clear them quickly.

4. Utilize Bonus Rounds Between Levels:

  • After passing a certain number of levels (usually odd-numbered ones), players enter a bonus round. This is an invincible, fast-paced level where the goal is to hit as many green diamond targets inside the tube as possible to earn high scores and extra lives. This is an excellent opportunity to accumulate points and lives, so try to keep your ship moving at high speed within the tube and don't miss any targets.
