A major four-player arcade hit released by Sega in 1991.
This title perfectly recreates a comic book style, with vibrant colors and fluid animation. Each character has their own unique attack style, such as Spider-Man's web attacks and Hawkeye's archery. The game features a wide variety of stages, including city streets, underground mines, and seaside locations. As players progress, the gameplay switches between two completely different styles—beat 'em up and side-scrolling shooter—making it a classic title from the early era of superhero games.
In four-player co-op, Spider-Man and Black Cat excel at close-range combos, while Hawkeye and Sub-Mariner have superior long-range suppressive abilities. It's recommended to have at least one ranged character on the team to clear out mobs in the corners.
During the close-up brawling sections, make frequent use of jump attacks, as airborne players are harder for ground mobs to grab. When the camera zooms out for platforming sections, watch out for enemy projectiles; even though your character sprite is smaller, your hitbox is still sensitive. When fighting bosses (like the Green Goblin), avoid trading blows head-on. Instead, use the full width of the stage to move left and right. Bosses usually have a clear wind-up animation before a special attack, and jumping to evade at this moment is the most effective strategy.
