Mario Golf: Advance Tour is a classic golf RPG developed by Camelot.
Developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Nintendo for the GBA in April 2004, Mario Golf: Advance Tour perfectly blends competitive golf with RPG progression elements. Players choose between a male or female protagonist to level up, allocate stat points, and unlock powerful gear through tournaments at the Royal Academy. Featuring a deep physics system involving wind and terrain, the game also includes classic Mushroom Kingdom characters like Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, offering immense replayability and collection value.
When leveling up, prioritize "Drive" to increase shot distance, allowing you to easily clear water hazards and bunkers. Next, invest in "Control" to minimize the impact of wind. Remember to keep your shot trajectory "Straight" to avoid unpredictable curves.
The first click sets the power, and the second click at the red line determines accuracy. Holding the Up or Down directional buttons while hitting allows for Topspin (to increase roll distance) or Backspin (to make the ball stop quickly upon landing).
Use the L/R buttons to fine-tune your aim when facing strong winds. When putting on the green, observe the grass grain and slope grid to predict the break and path of the ball.
After winning all four tournament trophies in the single-player RPG mode, you will unlock the Mario World challenges and hidden courses. Grinding levels at the Practice Range is the best way to prepare for high-difficulty matches.
