Game Details:

Liquid Kids (Mizubaku Adventure) was officially released to the arcade market by Taito in 1990. The story takes place in the peaceful world of "Woody Lake," which is suddenly invaded by the evil fire demon "Gaia" and his flame army. They drain the lake and kidnap the protagonist Hipopo’s friends and girlfriend. As a brave warrior of the hippo tribe, Hipopo sets out on a rescue mission armed with magical water bombs that can produce an infinite supply of water. The game features Taito's signature high-quality chibi art style with bright, vibrant colors. Its core "water flow physics" mechanic was highly innovative for its time, making it a definitive masterpiece from the golden age of side-scrolling platformers.

Game Guide:

The core gameplay revolves around "charging water bombs and environmental interaction."

Pro Tips for Clearing:

Press the attack button to throw small water bombs, or hold the attack button to "charge" and launch a giant water bomb. When a water bomb hits the ground or a wall, it bursts into a rushing wave. This wave not only douses and freezes fire-elemental enemies (simply walk into them to kick them away), but it also flows down slopes and through pipes to eliminate enemies in blind spots. A key feature of the game is environmental interaction: in certain levels, throwing water bombs at dried-up waterwheels or withered plants can make them spin or grow, opening up new hidden paths. When facing the giant fire beast bosses, spamming small water bombs is highly ineffective. The correct strategy is to use the terrain's verticality to maneuver and, during the boss's attack recovery, quickly throw a charged water bomb to completely stun them, then follow up with a flurry of attacks. Note that some levels contain hidden "Big Diamond" rewards; try washing suspicious corners with water waves to achieve a perfect clear.
