Game Details:

GunForce II was officially released to the arcade market by Irem in 1994. The title was crafted by core members of the legendary team that would later create Metal Slug, resulting in striking similarities in art style, sound effects, explosion particles, and vehicle designs. Set in a futuristic world, players take on the roles of two elite special forces soldiers on a mission to infiltrate enemy sea, land, and air bases to thwart a joint conspiracy between evil aliens and a dictatorial warlord. This title is not only one of Irem's swan songs during the golden age of arcades but is also regarded by countless retro gaming enthusiasts as an immortal hardcore classic in the history of run-and-gun shooters.

Game Guide:

The core gameplay lies in the masterful use of "independent dual-wield shooting" and "vehicle invincibility frames."

Pro Tips:

The protagonists dual-wield guns by default. While holding the fire button, one gun locks forward while the other can be rotated 360 degrees using the directional keys to unleash fire in any direction—a crucial mechanic when facing enemies from all sides. Throughout the levels, players can obtain powerful sub-weapons such as laser guns, flamethrowers, and homing missiles by rescuing hostages or destroying special crates. The ultimate survival technique is "vehicle hijacking." Whether it is a roadside motorcycle, a giant mech, or a stationary turret, characters gain complete invincibility frames the moment they jump into a vehicle. Furthermore, vehicles have independent health (or armor) values, allowing them to absorb lethal damage for the player. When facing the massive aerial battleship boss in Stage 3, avoid standing still on the open platform; instead, quickly seize the double-barreled anti-aircraft turrets below, utilizing the cannons' blind spots and high-power shells to focus fire on the core thrusters. Maintain a constant barrage with your dual guns to fight your way through the hail of bullets.
