Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash is a 2D weapon-based fighting game developed by Hudson Soft and published by SNK.
This title was officially released in 1995 and ran on the famous Neo Geo arcade board. Compared to the *Samurai Shodown* series from the same period, *Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash* features faster-paced gameplay, is easier to get into, and places more emphasis on combo flow and fun. The game's most distinctive feature is incorporating the "magic system" from the original RPG into a fighting game: during battles, players can pick up dropped items or spend their power gauge to unleash powerful super moves and spectacular magic scrolls.
The game is set in "Jipang," a fantasy version of ancient Japan, and the visual style is rich with the atmosphere of the Edo period. In addition to impactful weapon-based combat, the game includes a weapon-drop mechanic and a variety of interactive environmental items (such as food to restore health or power-ups to increase energy). Each character has unique voice acting that reflects their personality, with highly distinctive battle cries, appealing not only to fighting game players but also to fans of the original RPG.
During a match, small birds or children will randomly appear at the top of the screen and drop items. Picking up these items is key to turning the tide of battle.
Each character's super move (Ougi) requires a full power gauge to activate. For new players, we recommend practicing with Manjimaru Sengoku first. His combo logic is very intuitive, and his super move, "Manji Slash," has a large hitbox.
In Arcade Mode, when facing the final boss, Jyashinsai, do not rush to attack. Jyashinsai has extremely high priority on his moves and full-screen attacks. It's recommended to adopt a "defensive counter-attack" strategy, baiting out one of his moves with long recovery, and then punishing with a combo.
