Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II is a classic GBA action role-playing game developed by Webfoot.
Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II was developed by Webfoot Technologies and published by Atari in June 2003 for the GBA. This title perfectly recreates the classic Dragon Ball Z storylines from the Android Saga through the climactic Cell Games. Players can freely unlock and switch between five Z-Warriors—Future Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Goku—as the story progresses. Featuring top-down ARPG gameplay, the game offers rich map exploration, stat upgrade mechanics, and the iconic Super Saiyan transformation system, representing a massive improvement in controls and narrative fidelity over its predecessor.
When leveling up, prioritize allocating points to "Power" and "Endurance." High Power significantly increases melee and Ki blast damage, while high Endurance noticeably reduces damage taken. TP can be restored via energy pickups in the environment or through equipment, so there is no need to over-invest points in it during the early game.
Future Trunks has extremely fast melee attack speed, making him ideal for clearing rooms quickly in the early game. Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon features a piercing effect, perfect for damaging grouped enemies in narrow terrain. Vegeta’s Big Bang Attack offers immense burst damage, making him the primary choice for boss encounters. Once Gohan unlocks his Super Saiyan 2 form in the late game, he possesses top-tier overall combat capabilities.
Activating the Super Saiyan form continuously consumes TP but significantly boosts movement speed and offensive/defensive stats. When facing difficult bosses like Cell, it is recommended to keep your distance and use Ki blasts to whittle down their health, then transform for melee suppression once they are within range for the finish.
Maps feature Stat Gates (such as obstacles requiring a certain strength level). Be sure to collect Hercule Exhibits and Golden Capsules scattered throughout the world to unlock hidden areas and powerful equipment.
