Game Details:

"Deep Labyrinth" was developed by Interactive Brains and published by ATLUS. Initially a mobile game, it was later ported to the Nintendo DS, becoming one of the first DS RPGs to explore 3D dungeon gameplay. The game tells the story of the protagonist who, in order to rescue family members or a beloved dog (depending on the chosen storyline), enters a magical maze filled with monsters and puzzles.

The biggest feature of this game is the first-person perspective, where players use the touch screen to attack, cast spells, and use items. The game features a spell gesture system: when casting spells, players need to draw specific shapes on the screen with the stylus (e.g., drawing a circle for a fireball), which enhances the interactivity.

Editor's Recommendation:

If you like first-person RPGs that emphasize exploration and combat, but also want a more relaxed gameplay experience with portability, then "Deep Labyrinth" will catch your eye. Its unique touch-based spellcasting system makes spell release ritualistic and fun; and dungeon exploration is full of unknowns, often leading to surprising or tense events.

At the same time, the game is divided into two completely different story chapters, providing players with completely different gameplay rhythms and experiences. Although it's one of the early DS titles, it's a sincere ARPG in terms of system creativity, gameplay freedom, and content volume. For players who enjoy using their brains and experiencing immersive fantasy, it's worth a try.

Game Guide:

1. Spell System Explained

  • Magic Types: Divided into four categories: attack, defense, recovery, and support
  • Casting Method: Hold down the cast button and draw symbols on the touch screen
  • Fireball: Draw a circle
  • Ice Dart: Draw a straight line with an arrow
  • Heal: Draw a cross (+)
  • Shield: Draw a triangle
  • Practice Advice: Enter practice mode and practice several times before using it officially, otherwise it's easy to fail and waste MP

2. Combat and Leveling Tips

  • Early enemies move slowly, can use sword + fireball at range
  • Don't panic when enemies get close, use backward movement + turning around to dodge attacks
  • MP consumption is high, it is recommended to control the frequency of spell casting and save it for boss battles
  • It is recommended to prioritize leveling up HP and MP early on to ensure survival and output

3. Maze Exploration Essentials

  • Walls often hide switches, pay attention to bricks with different textures
  • Act quickly after stepping on floor mechanisms, some are timed doors
  • There are no clear markings on the map, it is recommended to use paper or memory to mark key rooms
  • Special treasure chests require specific magic to open (e.g., using fire magic to ignite)

4. Boss Battle Tips

  • Most bosses have elemental weaknesses, such as ice monsters fearing fire, and metal monsters fearing lightning
  • It is recommended to prepare 3-4 proficient attack spells in advance, and alternate use to interrupt skills
  • Maintain full MP and recovery potions before boss battles

5. Hidden Elements

  • "Hard Mode" is unlocked in the second playthrough, enemies are stronger but drop rare spells
  • Some puzzles only have branching endings after clearing the samurai chapter after the family chapter
  • Using hidden gestures (such as drawing two circles + a cross) can unlock hidden magic skills
