Time Killers is a 2D arcade fighting game developed by Incredible Technologies and released by Strata in 1992.
Time Killers was officially released to the arcade market by Incredible Technologies in 1992. The game's backstory follows Death, who, in search of the strongest warrior, forcibly summons eight legendary fighters from across human history—including a prehistoric caveman, a medieval knight, a futuristic space marine, and a cyberpunk cyborg—forcing them into a brutal tournament across time to fight to the death. The game’s bold innovations in its systems, particularly its unique damage detection mechanism, made it stand out in the fighting game scene of the era.
The core gameplay revolves around a unique "limb damage mechanism" and button layout. The game utilizes a non-traditional five-button setup, corresponding to the left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, and head.
During combat, if a player repeatedly inflicts heavy damage on a specific limb, they can "dismember" it, rendering the opponent unable to use the corresponding attack for the rest of the round. The most critical winning move is "Decapitation"—by pressing all attack buttons simultaneously, a precise hit can bypass the health bar for an instant kill. When facing high-AI opponents in single-player mode (such as the knight Thad or the alien monster Mantazz), avoid mindlessly trading blows. It is recommended to use the samurai "Hachiro," who has an exceptional attack range, to control the distance with heavy slashes. Once you spot an opening during an opponent's recovery frames, decisively trigger the all-button Decapitation to quickly end the match and clear the game.
