Sonic Advance is a 2D side-scrolling high-speed action game released by Sega for the GBA in 2001.
Jointly developed by Sonic Team and Dimps, Sonic Advance was first released by SEGA on the GBA in December 2001. As the first mainline entry in the Sonic series to land on a Nintendo handheld console, it tells the story of Dr. Eggman's plot to transform small animals into a robotic army to conquer the world, and Sonic and his friends stepping up to thwart his ambitions. The game not only continues the classic physics-based inertia and high-speed platforming of the Mega Drive era but also introduces a brand-new action system and the adorable "Chao" raising gameplay.
Sonic possesses the highest running speed of all characters and an aerial down-smash; Tails has the ability to fly, making him perfect for beginners to safely navigate obstacles; Knuckles can glide and climb walls, allowing him to unlock numerous hidden high-altitude paths; Amy focuses on hammer strikes, suitable for a steady playstyle.
Press "Down + Jump" to charge and perform a Spin Dash, instantly reaching top speed to break through enemies; pay attention to jump timing when hitting rails and springs to maintain momentum.
Look for hidden "Special Springs" at high points in levels; hit them to enter 3D slides and collect Chaos Emeralds. Collect all seven emeralds and stay alive until the end to unlock the True Final Boss after clearing the game with all characters.
