"Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict" is a strategy role-playing game released by SEGA in 1995 for the Game Gear platform.
This work is the last of the three spin-offs of "Shining Force" on the Game Gear, with the main goal of complementing the main series' storyline. The game time is set between the first generation of "Shining Force" and "Shining Force II", revealing the key background and fateful duel of the main characters Max and Mishaela. The battle adopts the classic turn-based strategy mode, and players need to reasonably deploy characters in each battle, utilizing terrain and skill advantages to defeat enemies. Characters have a career growth and job transfer system, and can accumulate experience, improve attributes, and unlock stronger skills through battle. Although the platform is a handheld console, this work has a compact storyline, smooth rhythm, and has complete battle maps and interlude performances, which can be called a masterpiece of strategy games on the Game Gear platform.
For players who like the "Shining Force" series, "Final Conflict" is not only a story supplement, but also a handheld strategy masterpiece with great tactical depth. On the Game Gear, which is limited in capacity, the game still presents rich combat strategies, solid storyline interludes, and characterization. Especially the linkage setting with the first generation and "Shining Force II", making this work a real "connecting work". Recommended for players who like retro strategy games, nostalgic SRPGs, or want to complete the "Shining" universe. This work has been completed with an English translation patch by enthusiastic players, and can be easily run by emulators.
