Raiden DX was released in arcades by Seibu Kaihatsu in 1994. As the ultimate enhanced version of Raiden II, this title retains the classic weapon systems: Red Spread Shot, Blue Laser, and Purple Plasma Laser. The game features three stage levels—Training, Novice, and Expert—set during a future counter-offensive on Earth. Compared to its predecessor, the DX version rearranged the level structure, added numerous hidden bonus items, and introduced more intense enemy bullet patterns. With its detailed mecha debris effects and solid impact feel, it represents the pinnacle of 1990s 2D shoot 'em ups.
The Red Spread Shot offers wide coverage for clearing fodder enemies, the Blue Laser delivers high concentrated damage for boss fights, and the Purple Laser features an auto-locking homing function.
