OverTop features highly innovative gameplay, breaking away from traditional closed-loop circuits in favor of a long, linear endurance race. Players must navigate a continuous series of extreme terrains within a time limit. A major highlight of the game is its vast vehicle diversity: in addition to traditional rally cars, players can choose from heavy yet stable off-road trucks, incredibly fast supercars, and even nimble, small-engine motorcycles.
Each vehicle performs vastly differently on various terrains. For instance, supercars are unstoppable on asphalt but become nearly impossible to control on grass or sand, while off-road trucks can maintain high speeds regardless of the harsh terrain. The game also incorporates a dynamic weather and season system, meaning players might experience everything from sunny skies to heavy rain and blizzards in a single race. These rapid environmental shifts greatly enhance the game's replay value and visual impact.
In OverTop, there is no single "best vehicle"; the right choice depends on your driving style.
Unlike its predecessor, this game features numerous branching paths in its track design.
When entering snowy areas, traction is significantly reduced. Remember to avoid sharp turns; instead, use light "tap steering" to make fine adjustments. During heavy rain, visibility is impaired. It's recommended to follow the taillights of AI vehicles while anticipating corner arrows to prepare for braking in advance.
