This game is more technically complex than the original Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. The most significant change is the introduction of a horizontally scrolling display, meaning the maze is no longer confined to a single screen. This prevents players from seeing all the ghosts' movements at a glance. Additionally, the warp tunnels on the sides of the maze have been removed, making it harder to escape when cornered. The game's bonus items (like kites, cars, etc.) move around the map, and when they touch regular dots, they transform them into "Super Dots." Super Dots are worth more points, but they cause Pac-Man to slow down significantly when eaten. This risk-reward dynamic is a core part of the game's appeal.
Since the map in this game scrolls, you must always stay alert, using audio cues and the flashing at the edge of the screen to predict the positions of off-screen ghosts. Be careful not to enter dead-end paths, as without warp tunnels, you'll have no escape if the ghosts trap you.
Dots that the moving bonus items pass over will turn into Super Dots. Although eating Super Dots grants more points (50 points), it will cause Pac-Man to move slower, which can be fatal when ghosts are in close pursuit. It's recommended to clear these Super Dots only when the ghosts have been weakened by a Power Pellet and have turned blue.
As you advance through the levels, the duration for which the ghosts stay blue will become shorter and shorter. Players should try to lure the ghosts to one side of the maze, then quickly eat a Power Pellet on the other side to counter-attack. In later levels, Power Pellets are used more for survival than for scoring points, so try to save them for critical moments when ghosts are blocking your path. At the same time, make good use of the "cornering" technique for a speed boost around turns; this is a fundamental skill for shaking off the ghosts.
