A vibrant puzzle-matching game. Players shoot colored bubbles to connect three or more of the same color and clear them.
Bubble Fever was released for the Game Boy Color around the year 2000, with Asmik Ace and other developers involved in its production. As a classic tile-matching puzzle game, it borrows the core logic of Bust-A-Move but places more emphasis on the "Fever" mechanic in its level design. Set in a vibrant, fantastical bubble world, players must clear the screen within a limited amount of time or moves. The game's visuals make full use of the GBC's color palette, and with its progressive difficulty, it is a standout puzzle title on the handheld platform.
The primary goal is to clear all bubbles from the top of the screen. Players control a launcher at the bottom, adjusting the angle to fire bubbles of randomized colors.
Utilize wall ricochets. When your path is blocked, bouncing shots off the side walls can help you reach higher areas, destroying anchor points to cause massive bubble drops.
Prioritize clearing high-level support bubbles. Dropped bubbles award far more points than those cleared directly. Tip 3: Fever Mode. Continuous clears will build up the energy gauge; triggering Fever Mode increases firing speed and doubles your score.
Pay attention to the next bubble color to plan your layout ahead of time. In Boss Stages, focus your fire on specific weak-point colors. If the bubbles touch the red line at the bottom of the screen, it’s game over. While character selection doesn't affect core stats, each character's cutscenes are quite charming.
