Game Details:

This title is a classic developed by Taito on their renowned "Z System" arcade board. The game's most prominent visual feature is its smooth scrolling effects and object scaling, which create the illusion of advancing at extreme speeds. The player controls a speedboat with two main weapons: a machine gun for clearing regular targets, and high-powered missiles for destroying heavily armored ones.

One of the most praised features in the game's design is its "Jump" mechanic. Players can use ramps on the water's surface or jump manually to dodge torpedoes, clear obstacles, and even attack enemy aircraft. The stage environments are varied, ranging from narrow canyon rivers to turbulent open seas, and the background music captures the high-energy vibe of 90s electronic music. Although the controls are simple—left/right movement, acceleration, shooting, and jumping—navigating screen-filling bullet patterns at high speed puts players' reflexes to the ultimate test.

Game Guide:

  • Mastering the "Jump" Dodge: Jumping isn't just for clearing obstacles; it's a core defensive maneuver. When the water is filled with torpedoes or sea mines that you can't dodge by moving sideways, decisively hit the jump button to become airborne. While in the air, your speedboat's hitbox changes, allowing you to effectively avoid most surface-level attacks.
  • Coordinating Machine Guns and Missiles: Don't just hold down the missile button. Missiles are powerful, but they have travel time. It's recommended to use the machine gun to spray smaller speedboats ahead to keep your view clear. Save your missiles for pursuing aircraft alerted by the radar or for distant defense turrets that are taking aim.
  • Boss Strategy: Circular Strafing: The bosses in this game are massive and usually have multiple weapon emplacements. When fighting them, avoid staying in the center of the screen for too long. You should maintain a wide, arcing motion from side to side to bait the boss's projectiles towards the edges, then use the openings to focus fire on its glowing core.
  • Path Selection Priority: At forks in the river, try to choose the wider channels with fewer obstacles. Although narrow paths often contain high-score items, the risk is extremely high. For players aiming to clear the game, maintaining speed and health is far more important than getting greedy for a few score pickups. If your boat touches the riverbank, it will cause a drastic slowdown and stun, making you extremely vulnerable to focused enemy fire.
