Game Details:

Compared to the previous installment, this title is not just a leap in graphics from 8-bit to 16-bit, but also a complete overhaul of its system depth. The game introduces a "Gold Shop" system, where players can use gold collected in stages to purchase or upgrade armor at the end of the level. This design, with its light RPG elements, was very rare for shooting games of its time.

The armor system is the soul of this game. From the "Flame Armor" that can launch giant fireballs, to the "Homing Armor" that automatically tracks enemies, and the "Shield Armor" that can block bullets, each armor type has its own unique energy consumption rate and tactical use. Additionally, the game features incredibly impressive giant bosses, which usually have multiple destructible parts, filling battles with the satisfaction of dismantling machinery. Its outstanding stereo sound effects also create a fantastic sense of immersion for this space war.

Game Guide:

  • Gold Priority: In the game, Gold is more important than simple power-ups. Gold comes in different denominations; try to pick it up immediately after destroying ground structures. In the shop, prioritize buying the **"Shield" or "Nuclear"** armor. The Shield is key for survivability on higher difficulties, while the Nuclear armor has devastating damage output against late-game bosses with high health.
  • Armor Switching Logic: This game allows players to store multiple armors. During stages with smaller enemies, it's recommended to use the basic fighter or the low-consumption **"Homing"** armor. Once you enter a boss fight or encounter a large wave of mid-sized enemies, immediately switch to the **"Laser" or "Bubble"** armor via the menu. Making good use of the "invincibility frames" when equipping armor can help you dodge deadly bullet patterns.
  • Black Holes and Pick-ups: Occasionally, a vortex resembling a "black hole" will appear in the stage. Entering it allows you to skip a level or access a bonus area. Additionally, be careful when picking up letter items: **"S"** increases your speed, but stacking it more than 3 times will make your controls feel too slippery. Be sure to avoid any inverted letters (like a reversed R), as they will downgrade your weapon or deduct your gold.
  • Boss Dismantling Tactics: Don't attack the boss's core directly. First, use missiles or wide-area armor to destroy the turrets on its flanks. Most boss bullet patterns in this game follow fixed trajectories. By destroying specific parts, you can significantly reduce the density of their bullet spreads, making it easier to maneuver.
