Game Details:

This title was remarkably ahead of its time in the 1985 arcade scene. It introduced a dual-attack system similar to *Xevious*: the A button fires an anti-air laser, and the B button launches air-to-ground missiles. The heart of the game lies in its "ASO (Armored Scrum Object)" system, where players collect armor parts representing different body sections throughout the levels. Assembling a full set allows you to activate powerful forms like "Thunder Armor," "Fire Dragon Armor," or "Shield Armor."

These armors aren't permanent and consume an energy gauge, adding a deep layer of resource management strategy to the gameplay. Visually, the title features backgrounds composed of cool-toned metallic structures, creating an oppressive and somber futuristic battlefield atmosphere. Despite its extreme difficulty, the sense of accomplishment from taking down giant bosses through precise collection and burst damage had countless veteran players hooked.

Game Guide:

  • The Deeper Meaning of Item Letters: The lettered power-ups that drop in the game are crucial. "S" increases movement speed (don't get too fast or you'll lose control), "L" upgrades your laser, and "M" upgrades your missiles. The most special one is "K" (Keep), which lets you retain your current weapon levels after losing a life. Be careful when you see **"R"** (Reverse)—it will invert your directional controls.
  • Armor Selection Strategy: Don't just blindly go for high-attack armor. When facing areas with dense bullet patterns, the **"Shield Armor" is your highest priority; when up against giant bosses with fixed weak points, the burst damage from the "Thunder Armor"** can help you end the battle quickly.
  • Meticulous Energy Gauge Management: Activating an armor's special ability consumes a huge amount of energy. Try to rely on your basic weapons for normal combat, and replenish energy by destroying supply depots on the ground (marked with yellow icons). Only activate your armor mode when the number of on-screen enemies gets out of control or when a boss enters a dangerous phase.
  • Rhythm of Ground Attacks: Since ground targets (like turrets and radars) are stationary, level memorization is the only way to clear the game. Prioritize destroying ground installations that fire tracking projectiles to greatly reduce the pressure on your evasion. Also, watch out for hidden item locations on the ground—continuously bombing specific structures can often spawn lifesaving supplies.
