Although it's an arcade title, the weapon weakness system is still the core mechanic. For example, on the Mega Man 1-2 route, Cut Man's weapon can easily tear through Guts Man's defenses. It's recommended to choose either Mega Man for his strong long-range capabilities or the incredibly fast Bass. For your first fight, it's best to pick a more manageable boss (like Ice Man or Wood Man) to get your first special weapon. In co-op mode, one player can draw the boss's aggro while the other focuses on attacking with the corresponding weakness, which can greatly shorten clear times and lead to a high-score rating.
