*Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition* is a classic 2D fighting game released by Midway on the GBA in 2003, serving as a handheld companion title to *Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance*.
Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition was released by Midway for the Game Boy Advance in August 2003. Serving as a companion piece to the GBA version of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the game continues the storyline of the unholy alliance formed between Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Summoned by their leader, Raiden, the Earthrealm warriors once again embark on an expedition to Outworld. The game features modes such as single-player Tournament and 2v2 Tag Team, while introducing exclusive playable characters including Sareena, Sektor, and Noob Saibot, delivering an exceptional 3D fighting experience and brutal Fatalities despite the hardware limitations of the GBA.
The core gameplay revolves around style switching and recovery management. Each character possesses two hand-to-hand martial arts styles and one weapon style, which can be swapped in real time during combat by pressing the L button. In close quarters, utilize standing medium kicks and crouching light punches to pressure opponents, linking them into style-branching combos to deal massive damage. In terms of special moves, classic fighter Scorpion's Spear is executed with Back, Back, Low Punch (←←LP), and his Slide is Back, Forward, Low Kick (←→LK); Raiden's Torpedo is Back, Back, Forward, High Punch (←←→HP).
It is recommended to prioritize characters with long-range zoning capabilities (such as Raiden and Shang Tsung) to keep enemies at bay using projectiles, then intercept them with a crouching punch (↓+HP) as an anti-air when they jump. After defeating the final bosses, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, you will earn Koins to spend in the Krypt to unlock secret characters and alternate costumes.
Smooth mode is recommended for mobile. Changing the player or server restarts the game.
