"Mega Man Star Force 3: Black Ace" is an action RPG title for the DS platform released by Capcom, which was released in Japan in 2008 and in North America in 2009.
This is the third installment in the Star Force series, still starring Geo Stelar and Omega‑Xis, exploring the real world and the Wave World. Battles take place on a 3×5 battlefield, where players move in real time and use battle cards to perform attacks, defenses, or skills. The Noise system is the core: accumulating to 200% can trigger the final form "Black Ace", lasting for three turns and resetting to 0%. Black Ace has auto-lock, hover shoes, and high-speed movement capabilities, suitable for high-speed multi-hit attacks.
The game features over 360+ card types, obtainable through battles and deep exploration. The Black Ace version has more easily obtainable special form cards like Gemini, Cygnus, Wolf, Cancer, and Corvus, suitable for players who prefer speed and combo-based playstyles. There is also a multiplayer battle function, allowing players to exchange cards and compete. Although the storyline is the same as the Red Joker version, the final form and card combinations are slightly different.
The game offers dozens of hours of main story plus rich post-game challenges, allowing players to unlock hidden BOSSes (such as Sirius and Crimson Dragon) and obtain Gold Star rewards, special cover wallpapers, and extreme cards. It generally improves the issues of the previous game, still maintaining the unique battle style of card and real-time operation combined.
As the final chapter of the series, "Black Ace" optimizes and enhances the core of Star Force's fusion of battle and strategy. Black Ace is a speed-driven final form, and the auto-lock function and hover shoes make battles more flexible and exciting. The card pack has a rich variety of cards, with high diversity in construction, especially suitable for players who like to build Decks to play combos.
The DS platform's dual-screen panel, card touch control, and the GBA link to unlock material mechanisms make the game more modern. Post-game challenges and hidden elements encourage players to repeatedly explore. The overall storyline has a certain emotional depth, especially the sense of conclusion as the series ends. If you like RPGs that combine card strategy and action, this is undoubtedly a great choice.
