Game Details:

Pokémon Dragon Ball Z Team Training is a masterpiece created by the renowned ROM hacker Z-Max. In this game, the concept of "Pokémon" is replaced by Dragon Ball characters known as "Fighters." The roster features nearly 150 characters from the original series, including Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu. Remarkably, the original "Evolution System" has been cleverly adapted into a Transformation System (e.g., Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 1, Super Saiyan 2, and even Super Saiyan 4 or Super Saiyan Blue at specific levels). In-game moves have also been completely redrawn and renamed; you can experience pixel-art versions of classic effects like the "Kamehameha," "Spirit Bomb," and "Masenko," with type matchups fine-tuned around new concepts like Ki, Martial Arts, and Divine Power.

Game Guide:

The core gameplay centers on "unlocking Saiyan forms" and "explosive move clashes."

Walkthrough Secrets:

Starting Fighter Selection: The game's "Starters" correspond to Goku (Saiyan type), Vegeta (Saiyan type), and Gohan. It is highly recommended to choose Goku or Vegeta. These top-tier Saiyans have extensive transformation branches in the mid-to-late game and boast incredible base stat growth curves, making them the absolute core of your team.

Transformation Items and Upgrades: Unlike the original game's reliance on Evolution Stones, many advanced transformations (such as Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue) require specific story items or "Transformation Stones" (similar to Awakening Stones). Be sure to save up enough gold to purchase these exclusive items at the Viridian City or Saffron City Department Stores. Certain characters, like Trunks and Goten, can even trigger a "Fusion Transformation" through specific synthesis or breeding to obtain Gotenks.

Dragon Ball-Style Type Matchups: Although the game has a Dragon Ball skin, the underlying combat logic still follows type effectiveness. Most "Ki Blasts" are Special Attacks, while "Melee Martial Arts" are Physical Attacks. When challenging the buffed Gym Leaders (who are portrayed by Dragon Ball supporting characters or high-level warriors), leverage the type immunities provided by transformations. Using high-power STAB moves like Goku's "Spirit Bomb" or Vegeta's "Final Flash" during key turns will help you breeze through the competition and dominate the World Martial Arts Tournament (Indigo Plateau).
