"Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team DS" is an enhanced version for the DS platform released by Capcom in 2005.
This game fully integrates the two versions originally released on GBA, Team Protoman and Team Colonel. Players choose one to play through at the start of the story. The DS version adds the ability to switch Navis (Net Navis) at any time during battle, bringing multiple Navis to support or replace in the team, which increases the depth of strategy. The bottom screen can be used for quick chip and PET management via touch controls, and provides a map interface, which is helpful for navigating cyberspace areas. Using the DS microphone, you can also shout encouragement to MegaMan during battles to trigger "Cheer Bonuses."
The wireless battle mode supports up to 8 players in a knockout-style competition, and allows for chip and team exchange. The game also supports inserting other "Network Legend" series games in the GBA cartridge slot, and when in the corresponding area, can import chips and unlock hidden content such as SolCross / Bass Cross. The sound and BGM have been remixed, with an overall improvement compared to the GBA, but still retain the original style.
If you are a fan of the "Network Legend" series, especially fond of the story and game system of the 5th generation, then the DS version of "Double Team" is an unmissable upgrade. It integrates the content of both versions into one, with more modern controls, convenient touch menus, support for team switching and wireless multiplayer battles, enhancing interactivity and strategy.
In addition, the unique microphone cheering and save card slot interaction mechanism can activate hidden transformation forms (such as Sol Cross, Bass Cross), adding extra fun and replay value to the game. Although it is slightly lengthy in terms of menus and voice dialogues, the overall experience is more rhythmic. Overall, for players who want to fully experience BN5 and enjoy a modern operating experience, the DS version is a better choice.
