Mario Party Advance is a classic board-style party game released by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in 2005.
Mario Party Advance was developed by Hudson Soft and published by Nintendo. While it carries on the series' signature "dice-rolling board game" core, it breaks from the traditional multiplayer rivalry by shifting its focus to the single-player adventure mode, "Shroom City." Players can choose from Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Yoshi, driving their own unique mini-cars across a vast city map to take on quirky quests from its residents. Featuring bright, vibrant visuals that maximize the GBA’s 2D pixel-art capabilities, the game includes over 60 brand-new minigames and a massive collection of wacky "Gaddgets," offering a remarkably deep single-player experience.
The core gameplay lies in "move management" and "resident quest puzzle-solving."
At the start of the single-player adventure, players begin with a limited number of Mushrooms (dice rolls). If you run out of Mushrooms before completing a quest or replenishing your moves, it’s Game Over. Therefore, at every fork in the road, be sure to carefully calculate your remaining moves and prioritize buildings with special markers to trigger events. When landing on minigame spaces, give it your all to win, as this is the primary way to earn extra Mushrooms and coins. Certain resident quests require specific items; frequently talking to NPCs and paying attention to clues in their dialogue is the key to success. For the various minigames unlocked throughout the journey, simply master the GBA's A and B buttons along with the D-pad. Maintain your rhythm, and you'll easily achieve 100% completion in Shroom City.
