"Legend of the Beast King" is a side-scrolling action arcade game released by Sega in 1988.
Set in ancient Rome/ancient Greece, the game uses 2D side-scrolling beat 'em up gameplay and supports both single-player and two-player cooperative modes. Players start as naked human warriors, and by hitting the floating balls in the air, they can transform into five beast forms: werewolf, dragon, grizzly bear, tiger king, and ultimate werewolf, each with different attack methods and abilities. By using combos, jumping, and picking up special items, you can deal with the endless waves of hell monsters and powerful BOSSes. Each level ends with a large BOSS, and the unique feature is the completely different combat experience before and after transformation. The game was later ported to the console platform and re-released on Steam as part of the "SEGA Forever" series.
"Legend of the Beast King" is an important representative of the golden age of arcade games, and the transformation mechanism and rhythmic combat action design are impressive. The visual and music are of SEGA's standard at the time, and it's even more exciting to fight with multiple players. Each transformation brings a significant change in gameplay, encouraging players to constantly challenge the highest level of beast form. Recommended for players who like fast-paced combat and retro arcade style, and experience the charm of revisiting SEGA's classic works.
