Kuru Kuru Kururin is a classic puzzle game released by Nintendo and Eighting for the GBA in 2001.
Developed by Eighting and published by Nintendo, Kuru Kuru Kururin was released in March 2001 as a launch title for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. The game follows the protagonist, Kururin, who pilots a spinning, stick-shaped craft called the "Helirin" through fantastical mazes on an adventure to rescue his lost siblings. With its minimalist yet highly skill-intensive precision controls, the game became an iconic puzzle-action classic on the GBA.
The Helirin's stick rotates clockwise at a constant speed. Holding down the A or B button accelerates your movement speed without altering the stick's rotation rate; therefore, always maintain boost through straightaways and open areas to shave down your clear times.
When approaching right-angle turns or narrow corridors, fine-tune your craft's positioning in advance and slip through just as the stick rotates parallel to the gap. Never make hasty turns inside tight passages, as colliding with walls repeatedly depletes your health and inflicts hitstun.
Blue spring obstacles are scattered across the stages. Bumping into a spring instantly reverses the stick's rotation direction (switching between counter-clockwise and clockwise). Utilizing springs to reset your rotation cycle is the core strategy for clearing consecutive S-bends and cramped mazes.
Clearing Normal Mode unlocks the extended stick mode, pushing players' spatial awareness and precision maneuvering to the absolute limit."
