Game Details:

As one of the most popular games on the NES and in arcades during the early days, this title won over players with its simple yet hardcore controls. The game's setting is heavily influenced by Hong Kong kung fu movies, and players can use high, middle, and low attacks, including punches and kicks. The challenges on each floor of the tower are different: from the stick fighter on the first floor, to the boomerang-throwing assassin, to the troublesome dwarfs, the enemies have diverse attack patterns. Although the controls are simple, the game demands a high level of skill in timing and spacing attacks. It is a classic example of an action game that is "easy to learn, hard to master."

Game Guide:

  • Basic Attack Choices: In the game, kicks have a longer range than punches, so you should prioritize using kicks in most situations. Although punches have a shorter range, they award more points and are surprisingly effective against certain fast, close-range enemies.
  • Dealing with Minions and Hazards: * Grapplers: If a minion grabs you, you will continuously lose health. You need to quickly wiggle the D-pad left and right to break free.
  • Projectiles and Falling Objects: On some floors, poisonous snakes, pots, or throwing knives will fall from above. It's recommended to always stay on the move, using jumping attacks or crouching to dodge, and avoid standing in one spot for too long.
  • Boss Strategies by Floor:
    • First Floor (Stick Fighter): Keep your distance, and during the recovery frames after his staff swing, attack continuously with low kicks or jumping kicks.
    • Second Floor (Boomerang Thrower): This is a tough one; you must pay attention to the boomerang's path as it goes out and comes back. Close in on him in the window after he throws it, and unleash a series of crouching attacks.
    • Third Floor (Giant): The Giant has extremely high defense. Dodge his heavy punches and use agile jumping kicks to strike his head, or bait out his attack and then quickly hit him with a low sweep.
    • Fourth Floor (Magician): He will disappear and summon fireballs. Don't be fooled by the illusions; the moment he reappears, unleash a fierce assault to interrupt his spellcasting.
    • Fifth Floor (Mr. X): The final boss is skilled at blocking. A hit-and-run strategy is recommended: first defend against or dodge his combo punches, then look for an opening in his low guard to attack his mid or high sections.
