Game Details:

A model example of an arcade port, this title's performance on the SNES (Super Famicom) platform was astounding. The game perfectly replicates the unique movesets of the four turtles—Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. Beyond basic attacks and jumps, the game introduced the highly creative "throw enemies at the screen" special move, which utilized Mode 7 technology for a powerful visual impact. Each time-traveling stage features unique environmental interactions and charismatic bosses (like Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady). Moreover, the SNES version added extra tech-focused levels and exclusive bosses, making its replay value even greater than the original arcade version.

Strategy Guide:

Mastering Throws and Grabs:

The core essence of this game lies in its grappling mechanics. When you get close to a stunned grunt, you can perform two types of throws: one is a side-to-side slam, during which you are invincible and can damage surrounding enemies; the other is throwing them towards the screen, which is the only effective way to defeat certain bosses (like Super Shredder).

Using Running Attacks:

Double-tapping the directional pad lets you dash, and pressing the attack button during a dash will execute a "slide kick" or a "charging attack." The slide kick is an amazing move for dodging projectiles and quickly closing in on enemies, and it's especially effective against groups of Foot Soldiers.

Character Strengths & Weaknesses:

  • Donatello (Purple): Has a long weapon with the widest attack range. The top choice for beginners.
  • Raphael (Red): Attacks very fast but has a short reach. Best for experts who prefer close-quarters combat.
  • Leonardo (Blue): The most balanced character, with an excellent slide kick.
  • Michelangelo (Orange): Has slightly higher attack power and a strong, rhythmic combo feel.

Boss Fight Strategies:

When facing a boss, remember not to get greedy with your attacks. Most bosses have a brief moment of vulnerability after being knocked down or after using a special move. Use this window to hit them with a jump kick (Jump + Attack), then follow up with a ground combo. In the futuristic levels, make use of the explosive barrels in the environment to instantly clear out large groups of elite enemies.
