Game Details:

Pokémon: FireRed Extended is led and developed by the renowned modder dj_tiem. The core philosophy of this ROM hack is to "experience modern Pokémon on a classic stage." The game features a complete roster from Generation I to VIII (including select Hisuian forms), all of which can be caught in the wild with logical evolution methods. On a system level, the game has undergone a total modern overhaul: it perfectly implements the Physical/Special split, the Fairy type, the latest moves and abilities from Gen VII onwards, in-battle Mega Evolution, and the Z-Move system. Additionally, the game features revamped map tileset art, a real-time day/night cycle, visible wild Pokémon (optional Overworld Encounters), as well as high-convenience features like a portable PC and infinite-use HMs, significantly enhancing the overall Quality of Life (QoL).

Game Guide:

The core gameplay revolves around a "classic adventure powered by modern mechanics" and "building diverse cross-generational rosters."

Pro Tips for Completion:

Starter & Catching Bonuses: At the beginning of the game, in addition to the classic Kanto starters, players can choose starters from other generations based on their preference. Thanks to the Overworld Encounter system and DexNav, players can easily catch high-potential rare Pokémon like Riolu and Ralts in early areas such as Viridian Forest or Route 1. It is recommended to build a core team of six with good type synergy as early as possible.

Leveraging the Physical/Special Split: Since this game perfectly synchronizes modern Physical/Special damage categories, many Pokémon that were weak in the original FireRed have received massive buffs. For example, Sneasel and Azumarill can now fully utilize their high Attack stats with Physical STAB moves. Always check the category icons on the move screen during your journey.

Mid-game Resilience & Mega Power Spikes: While the story remains faithful to the original, the Gym Leaders and Elite Four utilize competitive-standard rosters and move-sets in the late game, with significantly increased levels. Once you obtain the Mega Ring mid-game, remember to collect Mega Stones hidden in secret corners across the Sevii Islands and various towns. When facing Sabrina’s Psychic Gym or Blaine’s Fire Gym, utilize defensive type switching (e.g., Dark-types for Psychic immunity, Ground-types to counter Fire) and trigger Mega Evolution for your core attackers during pivotal turns to sweep the opposition and claim the championship at the Indigo Plateau.
