Game Details:

Pokémon: Evolution is a fan-made ROM hack focused on training and exploration. While retaining the original maps and general storyline, the game reconstructs the entire Pokémon ecosystem. The creator has designed original "Next-Gen Evolutions" for many classic Pokémon, along with "Environmental Divergent Evolutions" triggered by specific items or weather conditions. Additionally, the game synchronizes the modern Physical/Special split mechanic and increases the variety of move sets for wild Pokémon. Players can enjoy the unique fun of training early-game rodents and birds—traditionally weak in battle—into powerful mainstays for their team through these new evolutions.

Game Guide:

The core gameplay revolves around "unlocking hidden evolution conditions" and "constructing multi-branch teams."

Pro Tips:

Explore Brand-New Evolution Methods: In this game, many Pokémon no longer rely solely on leveling up to evolve. Some Pokémon require holding specific items (such as Metal Coat or various new Evolution Stones) and leveling up during the day or night to trigger new branched evolutions. Whenever you catch a new Pokémon, try testing items from your bag or visit libraries in major cities to check the Evolution Dex; you’ll often unlock unexpectedly powerful forms.

Type Coverage and Ability Utilization: Due to the inclusion of numerous original evolutions, many Pokémon undergo dramatic type changes upon evolving (e.g., from pure Flying-type to Steel/Flying-type). When building your team, don't be restricted by experience from older versions; pay close attention to new Abilities after evolution. Making good use of "god-tier" Abilities like Huge Power or Adaptability gained through evolution can significantly lower the difficulty of your early-game playthrough.

Tackle the Enhanced League Challenge: Although the main story remains largely unchanged, the rosters of Gym Leaders and the Elite Four have been completely replaced with the unique final evolutions of this game, featuring highly competitive move sets. During mid-to-late game battles, be sure to utilize defensive type synergy. Target the Gym Leaders' signature types and use your own Pokémon's expanded move coverage gained after evolution for super-effective damage, allowing you to steadily clear the game.
